Sudan

Sudan, officially the Republic of the Sudan  and also known as North Sudan, is a country in Northeast Africa. It borders the countries of Central African Republic, Chad, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Libya, South Sudan, and the Red Sea. It has a population of 45.70 million people as of 2022[13] and occupies 1,886,068 square kilometres (728,215 square miles).

 In 1996, Internet was introduced in Sudan by the Sudan Internet Services Co. Ltd. [Sudanet]. With 128Kbps Bandwidth capacity. – In early 1998, the Sudan Telecom Co. Ltd. [Sudatel] introduced it’s Internet Service in the country as a value added service to it’s basic fixed telephony services. With 265Kbps Bandwidth capacity.

in Dec 2018, more than 200 government websites have been shut down by the Anonymous group, in retaliation for Khartoum’s violent actions against Sudanese protesters, also their action against the Sudanese government followed multiple reports that Facebook, What’s App and other social media services had been shutoff for days as protests continued to rage.

Anonymous utilized Distributied-Denial-of-Service (DDoS) to conduct their attacks. 

in the wake of Khartoum’s violent actions against Sudanese protesters in 2018, anonymous said "We are communicating with you today because something is very wrong with the Sudanese government....We can’t tolerate injustice, inequality and the denial of the people rights"

No legal action has been taken 

  • Sudan has a Cybercrime Act of 2007 and its amendments in 2018 and 2020, which includes thirty articles specialized in crimes related to the use of computers, mobile phones and other electronic devices.

  • This law faces computer hacking through article 4 which stipulates“ Anyone who accesses a site or information system without being authorized to do so and:
    (
    a)    consults or copies it, shall be liable to imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years or a fine or both penalties;
    (
    b)   cancels  data  or  information  belonging  to  another  person  or  deletes,  destroys,  discloses,  damages, alters or republishes it or who changes the design or location of the site or cancels or diverts its address shall be punishable by imprisonment for a period not exceeding four years or a fine or both penalties
